Trip to Hoggenekal Falls.

Our fren, Ankit bhaiya got into Microsoft and finally we convinced him to sponsor the trip to Hogenekkal Falls as the treat. Sushil Dai could not join us and we missed him throughout the trip.

It was surprising, everyone had woke up so early. Ankit bhaiya had booked a Tempo-traveller and we started our trip around 7:30 am. We followed the Bangalore --> Hosur --> Krishnagiri --> Dharmapuri --> Hogenekal and when we reached Hogenekal Falls, it was 11 am after traveling 180 kms.

It is sometimes referred to as the "Niagara of India" and this waterfall is on the Cauvery River with Carbonitite rock everywhere. Coracles are primitive, light, bowl-shaped boats with a frame of woven grasses, reeds, or saplings covered with hides. The coracle boating is the interesting part of Hogenekkal... they charge around Rs 200 for 3 hours for a round trip. Our excitement knew no bounds when he boat-man took the coracle just under the waterfall (the water must be falling into the cauvery river channel with the rocks of heights more than 50 feet on the both sides of river... and probably the water-depth was 75 feet as the locals said.

Then, he took us to an island sort of place and you will find fresh fishes being cooked and served. I did take rice and sambar before swimming in the high current waterflow. After the lunch, the boat-man took us near to a low-falling waterfall and the depth of water was around 5 ft and we swim there for quite sometime and enjoyed the force the water falling onto our body... this part of swimming was interesting... and just before completing the trip in the cauvery, the boatman started rotating the coracle by rowing so fast, all of us were thrilled by the experience.

We reached back to our room around 8pm.
